Brown Sugar Smokies

Prepare to be the star of your next gathering with our sweet and savory Brown Sugar Smokies. This recipe combines the smoky flavor of little sausages, the crispiness of bacon, and the sweet caramelization of brown sugar to create a bite-sized treat that's impossible to resist. The bacon is wrapped around the sausages and then sprinkled with brown sugar, which melts into a delicious glaze as it bakes. Whether you're hosting a party or looking for a unique appetizer, these Brown Sugar Smokies are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

  • 1 pound thin-sliced bacon
  • 16-ounce package of little smokie sausages
  • 1 cup brown sugar, or to taste

Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F. While the oven is heating, cut the bacon into thirds. Wrap each third of a bacon strip around a little smokie sausage. Once wrapped, place each bacon-wrapped sausage on  a wooden toothpick. Arrange these items on a greased, foil-lined jelly-roll pan or baking sheet.

Now comes the sweet part. Sprinkle the wrapped sausages liberally with brown sugar, ensuring each piece gets a good coating. This brown sugar will melt as it bakes, creating a sweet and sticky glaze that perfectly complements the smoky sausages and crispy bacon.

Bake your skewers in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and the brown sugar has melted into a tantalizing glaze. If the bacon isn’t as crispy as you’d like, don’t hesitate to broil the skewers for a few extra minutes. Once done, let them cool slightly before serving. These Brown Sugar Smokies are best enjoyed warm, so dig in and savor the sweet and savory goodness. Serves 2 to 12.
