Ingredients

PASTA

  • 1/2 box pasta shells
  • 1 pint ricotta cheese
  • 1 pound mozzarella (reserve some for topping)
  • 24 ounces pasta sauce

FILLING

  • 1/2 pound hamburger
  • 2-3 green onions or 1 regular onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • Dried parsley to taste (optional)

Instructions

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F if you prefer baking over microwaving. Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Once cooked, drain and rinse them under warm water to cool. Set aside.

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the hamburger meat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet, sautéing them until they are tender and fragrant.

In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, a portion of the mozzarella cheese, the cooked meat mixture, and dried parsley (if using). Carefully stuff each pasta shell with a generous amount of the cheese and meat mixture.

In a casserole dish, spread a thin layer of spaghetti sauce to prevent the shells from sticking. Arrange the stuffed shells in the dish and pour the remaining spaghetti sauce evenly over the top. Sprinkle the reserved cheese over the shells and cover the dish. You can either microwave the dish on high for 10 minutes or bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade stuffed pasta shells.
